Kitten Feeding Guide

When feeding a Prey Model Raw (PMR) diet to a kitten, the general starting point is based on their current body weight and age, because kittens are rapidly growing and need more calories and nutrients per pound than adult cats.

Age of Kitten % of Body Weight to Feed Daily
4–8 weeks 10–13% of body weight
2–4 months 8–10%
4–6 months 6–8%
6–8 months 4–6%
8–12 months 3–4% (adjust depending on growth)

🐾 PMR Ratio for Kittens:

Follow the typical 80/10/10 PMR ratio:

  • 80% muscle meat

  • 10% raw meaty bones

  • 10% organs

    • 5% liver

    • 5% other secreting organ (kidney, spleen, etc.)

Additional Tips:

  • Feed 3–4 meals per day until 6 months old.

  • Always weigh the kitten weekly to adjust food amounts as they grow.

  • Use small, soft bones like chicken necks or wings for early introductions.
